Upgrading and mixing c-7 and c-8 hubs

I currently have 3 C-7s. 2 of them are lightly loaded and have only 2-3 devices on them. All have the latest current firmware ( 2.3.9.201)

Hub 1 is heavily loaded (at least compared to the other 2) with a bit over 100 devices and a lot of automations. I also mesh over the devices from the other 2 hubs to it for some automations that affect all units. I sometimes notice a lot of lag on this unit and I am thinking of upgrading it to a C-8 Pro.

Can I mesh devices from C-7s to a C-8?

Is upgrading as simple as backup/restore? I don't want to have to recreate all of my apps and automations.

Hub Mesh works between any models of hub, so no concern there.

No. While it's not much more complicated, to get a seamless migration, you do need to follow the migration procedure:

The upgrade seemed to work OK except for Alexa integration. I disabled Alexa, Lutron and MakerAPI before the upgrade and reenabled afterwards. I haven't figured out what to do about alexa. I guess I may have to remove the skill from Habitat and Alexa and start over.

I just deleted the Echo skill in the hubitat and the Habitat Skill in Alexa and started over. It all works now
