Running a C8 Pro on the latest version. I updated to ZWaveJS as well as the latest ZWave firmware. It was a wreck and many wired devices stopped working. I could not get my Zooz Zen16 MultiRelay garage door opener to work even after excluding it and reinstalling it. So, I decided to restore my C8 Pro from a prior backup - database and ZWave radio. This was seemingly a huge mistake as now none of my ZWave devices show up no matter what I try. Of course I have power-cycled the hub after a shutdown multiple times now.
Not the same thing but I did just loose all my ZW radio info.
It was a failed radio and I got a replacement but @bcopeland is the guy to check out your hub before you do anything drastic.
If you have a cloud backup your radio info is in there. I did but every restore netted no radio info.
Also, when you switch to JS, at least in my case (and a few others), both my GoControl garage door openers went into alarm when they were interviewed by JS on the first boot. A power cycle fixed that.
I feel for you.
My cloud backup was 2 months old.
I have over 100 Webcore pistons and devices so getting back to current took until today.
At least I had my old C8 that I migrated from in Feb so not starting from scratch at least.
I am very much hoping that the new C8Pro they send me will accept a cloud backup from prior to this fiasco. It should. Otherwise I will be re-enrolling around 200 Z-wave devices. Z-wave has caused me headache since the very first day many years ago. It was a huge mistake. My zigbee devices are nearly flawless over the same period.
Yes multiple times. I theorize that because I updated the ZWave radio to the latest firmware somehow that is causing this issue. I have tried everything, soft reset, zwave radio reset. Power cycling each time.
Please check out this solution. We are aware of an issue restoring Z-Wave, but you can run the correct version by going to the path mentioned in this post:
I did try that already unfortunately. "already running v7.18.3".
I have tried every permutation I could think of including a soft reset, a zwave radio reset, restoring different cloud backups, etc.
Is there any way you guys could send me a new hub quickly? My entire house runs on this thing and I would really like to be able to restore my hub protect cloud backup to a new one...
I think you know this now but for anyone else, restoring a zwave backup is almost never a solution for device issues. It's purpose is to migrate to a new hub or to recover from a totally dead hub to a new one. IMO it should not be needed for anything else.
For anyone who switches to ZWave JS and has a lot of issues, just switch back to legacy ZIP and everything should go back to normal. Unless you want to troubleshoot and fight with it for days. But definitely loading a Zwave backup is not the solution unless advised by staff.
I subscribe to hub protect and I am waiting for them to respond to my claim for a new hub. Admittedly itβs not even been 24h but Iβm struggling to be patient with this having so much running on it. The restore should not have bricked the ZWave radio but it appears it did.
Yeah, either the restore or something with switching back and forth with JS and ZIP. Obviously neither should cause a failure, the restore should always be a safe thing to do. I just feel like people are too quick to restore backups when it can actually do more harm than good sometimes. Even if the restore worked, there are other side effects,
Thanks for your patience. Your warranty case is under review, It doesn't look like the radio is "bricked " but our engineers are further investigating. You should receive a message from us shortly.
I wanted to post and say thank you for the excellent customer service. The Hubitat team reached out within less than 24 hours and diagnosed that the ZWave radio had indeed failed for uncertain reasons. A new hub was immediately sent out. They will investigate the returned hub in order to try and prevent this happening in the future.
