I have 23 zwave devices, 19 mains powered 4 battery.
Updated the fw and noticed the mains devices complaining about loss of connection.
Devices
Tried rebooting HE.
Devices still unresponsive.
Any ideas on how to get them back?
Settings>Shutdown
When LED goes red, pull power from hub (at wall if you can reach it)
Wait 2m
Plug in again and let hub boot up...devices should re-appear - let us know the result.
Also - you have a Z-Wave radio FW update that you should appy:
After you reboot and (presumably) your devices re-appear, you will want to apply that update, has improvements.

Your plan worked, got everything back.
The update fw button has gone away. So assume HE did it without user input?
Is this normal for HE just to dump all devices?
It's an odd glitch that can show up once in a while...if you see something like it again just do the shutdown-restart dance and things almost always come back good.
No - the update can't be applied other than by you appying it, it cannot be applied automatically. The display of that button must have been related to your general Z-Wave issues before the shutdown. Do you remember applying a Z-Wave FW update in the past few months?
The Update button incorrectly shows up when the zwave is in a crashed state. So that is why it was visible until the shut down.

I did do a zwave update last year.
Zwave runs door lock, and 4 smoke detectors and exposes them to NR, the 23 powered zwave devices are there to maintain a good zwave network around the house.
This house is a nightmare for wireless signals…. So massively overkill powered devices.
4 UniFi APs three downstairs 1 up.
I run zigbee through zigbee2MQTT and have to run handful of ikea repeaters.
