Unresponsive Hub after Xmas break

Might work if you add the second subnet to the hub using the endpoint, i.e.

http://<<hubIpAddress>>/hub/allowSubnets?123.123.123.0,124.124.124.0

I have always found the inbuilt IP assignments a little unpredictable in HE. Sometimes needing setting several times.

When you set a static IP on the hub make sure that the hub and the router IP are both setup at the same time and are both in the same subnet e.g. 192.168.0.x with a subnet of 255.255.255.0. All three values filled in before you click ‘Save and Switch’. Also be sure the static hub address you set is not in use by any other device.

If instead you use DHCP (recommended) then these values should, as you know, be setup automatically when the hub is rebooted. If the hub remains on a 169.254..IP after reboot then, as others have said, it is highly indicative that the DHCP server (your router) can’t be reached. For the time being I would remove the DHCP reservation just in case it is colliding with a device. Use arp -a to find its address. Once working re-enable that.

There are still some reported issues of the 10/100 auto negotiate speed getting set wrong and causing IP packet loss. . If you have a 100mbps switch try fixing this at 100.

I realise it was working so the sudden failure is quite odd.

Bizarrely, the hub has connected first time on my home network. Thank you for your help and suggestions everyone, especially @thebearmay for the ARP -a command line to find the runaway hub. I'll see what happens on Monday when I return to office lan. Meanwhile, running an update.

And as a final update, on returning to the office - no connectivity! Not even on the 169.254.11.xxx

Arhg.

Reset the router to factory settings. And the hub came back.

Utterly bizarre.

But, Thankfully, I am back on line, a backup was able to be found, has been re-applied.

So for anyone in the same sutuation:
Try using ARP-a in the wondows command line to see if your hub is on n 'unusual' IP
Try connecting (network reset) hub to another network.
As a final scorched earth attempt - reset your router to clear any 'address-reservation'cobwebs.

Thanks Eveyone for your help and support, much appreciated.

S, lord of the bulbs.
