Unable to update Firmware on Rev C-7 Hub

Dear Hubitat,
I have a Hubitat Hub Rev C-7 that is operating with firmware version 2.2.5.131. I have attempted to update the hub to the current 2.2.7.123 multiple times. I see the following messages:

Settings>Hub>Update>Downloading>Verifying>Several Reboots

Several times I get an error message telling me that the update failed. Other times no message but when I check to see the Firmware version it is unchanged. Can you assist me?

Thanks,
Mike Masterson

Yes, there's no latest version downloaded on the hub. Could you please try going to the diagnostics tool at http://your.hubs.ip.here:8081/ and using Download latest version from there? It will not set the version to the new one, but it will at least clearly show if it's able to download it. Once the update is on the hub, use Restore previous version to switch to 2.2.7.

Following your advice I was able to update to the current version. However, now the hub is in perpetual reboot mode. Just an endless hourglass but Im unable to connect to the hub. I tried a soft reset and a safe reboot without success. Can you assist?

After you did the softreset did you restore a previous database?

No. I could not get to the web interface.

Ok. go to yourhubip:8081/fullui and scroll down to the bottom and install platform 2.2.5. It should come back up. Once it does, restore a previous DB. Once that is done and things reboot normally. Go to settings then update. It should update normally. (Just went through this with one of my people at work)

OK that worked. I have restored my DB to yesterday and will watch to see is all goes well. Two other issues:

  1. I have 7 Sonos One Gen 2 speakers that I purchased to use with Hubitat. Several months ago I had a number of crashes with the hub. I was instructed to disable the speakers until a fix was found. Is it safe to use the Sonos speakers again?
  2. I use Life 360 to arm disarm my hub for away monitoring. The hub disarms when either my wife or I return without fail. I have set the Safety Monitor to arm automatically if both of us leave. It never arms on departure of the second person. Is there a fix for this?
    Thanks for your help

I don't use Life 360 so I can't answer that. (I do however use @joelwetzel 's combined presence app and it works incredibly well) I don't like things that rely on cloud so that's why I tend not to use things like Life 360. I use the above app with an ST Presence dongle combined with my phone ip (my wife has the same setup) and it works well. As for sonos, I don't use sonos integration but if your sonos' support google assistant (some do) you can use the google integration (or the more advanced one in the Hubitat package manager) to set your announcements. It works very well for me at least. So are you now on 2.2.7.123?

I am now on 2.2.7.123 so hopefully that is an upgrade. Where can I find the combined presence app? I'd like to try it.

Yes. Thanks for all of your help. Looks like some of my lights are not working with motion activation so I may have to work on them.

Install Hubitat package manager and download it from there

I found it but it looks like it is for I phones. I use android. I'll look for an alternative. Thanks again.

It simply looks for the ip, doesn't matter if it's android or ios (my wife uses android, I use ios and it works fine for pinging her phone)

So I use mine so that If my wife is gone (she has her keys or at least her phone with her) and I'm gone my triggers go off (such as door locks and lights turning off) This works even if she leaves her keys at home because she always has her phone. And vice versa) But if either one of us leaves and a full set of keys/phone is home no triggers.

Great. I have installed both programs and will do some homework to get them working. Thanks again.

your phones need to be reserved using your router, it wont work if your phones move IP.

Which also means mac randomization needs to be turned off on newer phones, too.

Forgot to mention that... My bad. Reserve the IP

@JasonJoel
(to be frank, I didn't know this was going on):

I use (as many do) the registration of a certain mac address to a certain ip address to indicate presence. It's probably my most reliable indicator. I'm going to have to turn it off, or figure something else out.
In checking this out, I find that this particular switch varies by network - i.e. I can turn it off only for my home network, and not for any other. That might allow me to continue using the existing program to track presence.

Turn it off, that's what I do on my personal/family devices - for this exact reason. Although I don't use phone mac/ip for presence detection, I do use mac/ip for firewall and content filtering rules.
