I have a thermostat controller 2.0 instance controlling a Centralite Pearl thermostat. I would like to add a new temperature sensor to the two already in it. I cannot, for the life of me, get the damned thing from the “Controlled” state to the “Free” state, nor can I see any way to add another sensor.
There is a thermostat scheduler managing the controller instance, but even if I disable the scheduler AND the controller AND the thermostat, the screen showing the controlled thermostat is greyed out and it still says “Controlled”. If I get to its preferences, the two sensors are listed, but there’s no way to add a third.
Can anyone help? Do I have to toss this instance out and start over? This seems rather broken.
It says here it’s using the “Generic Zigbee Thermostat” driver. This was set up quite a while ago (May of 2022) and there was no Centralite Pearl driver back then that I was aware of.
I used to be able to toggle the “Controlled/Free” state in the thermostat controller, but now the line is greyed out and I cannot find a way to toggle it and I can’t add additional temperature sensors.

First, does your screen look like mine? obviously the drop down on your will show your available temp sensors ..
For me, the function of switching from Controlled to Free is done in the Controlled Thermostat block - the actual word in Red above. Its absolutely not obvious! The word itself is actually active as a switch - when I click mine the word changes to Free in green.
For drivers, I recently wrote a more robust driver specific to this unit - since it has limits for me (I have a combined heater/AC unit) I needed it to more robust then the generic driver. It’s in HPM if you wanna see if it works.
A few ideas past all this - do a back up of your Hub. manually. Delete the controller completely. Delete the thermostat. (use the old device swap trick to save its In Use By). Then create fresh - thermostat first, then Controller. Does the new one work? Restore from backup and proceed based on the yes/no.
Not sure I can help get to the bottom of the issue in the thermostat controller app, but I’d suggest sticking with the generic driver unless your needs are exactly the same as @jshimota’s with respect to his HVAC equipment.
It’s not particularly likely that the built-in, generic driver has anything to do with the thermostat controller app issue that you’re running into.
As you can see, the “Controlled” bit is greyed out (I know that’s where I USED to be able to switch it between free and controlled). This all happened after an update to the software. I sure didn’t expect this stuff to go dormant! Sheesh!
You're in the middle of setting the heating setpoint in that screenshot, which (since you didn't mention this was intentional) I'm assuming is the problem you describe. Hit "Cancel" to get out of that, then you should be able to do do other tasks in the table -- including what you want -- again.
