Unable to reconnect to Matter Leviton D215S switch after home mesh upgrade

After replacing our home network with a new Orbi mesh, I can't reconnect a Leviton D215S switch (2nd gen) to our Hubitat server, which waw working before the change. I was hoping someone with more experience with Matter devices could suggest how to trace the problem and help solve this issue.

I was careful to carry over my reserved IP addresses to the new mesh's DHCP table, before changing the WiFi network name, so just about everything else worked without a problem on the new mesh. I tried cycling power on both the switch and Hubitat, with no effect. I also removed the device from Hubitat and did a factory reset on the switch. At this point, the switch works with the vendor's "My Leviton" app, which provides a matter pairing code. When I try to add the device to Hubitat and use the pairing code, I get the "Looks like you’re having trouble pairing your device..." message and nothing else happens.

I successfully connected the matter switch to the Hubitat box a couple of years ago, just using the Hubitat's add device prompts. The switch's current firmware is ver 2.1.25, not sure it is the same one I had when successfully connected. I tried using apple Homekit, Google Home, and Alexa to "commission" the switch as a Matter device, but that didn't work. Looks like all these vendor now expect you to have more up-to-date pods or controllers than what I have at home, and that's a path I rather not take.

I appreciate any advice, thanks!

I was able to get the Leviton D215S switch working again, I'm sharing what I did as it may be of help to someone else. First of all, I think I had several layers of problems:

  1. The new Orbi mesh comes with IPV6 off by default, Leviton's documentation requires this on and mode set to "Auto Config".
  2. Several people report connection problems with firmware 2.1.25, which is the stable version posted by the vendor. To get a more up-to-date version you need to join Leviton's "Matter Early Access Program" (join via their "My Leviton" app), and also reach out to their tech support to request a more recent firmware. I got v2.3.15. I also factory-reset the switch and reconnected to our home network, to make sure I had a clean connection.
  3. Some folks also report issues when using networks with 5 and 2.4GHz wifi service under the same SSID, which is the way our Orbi 770 mesh works. I'm not sure this is a relevant with Hubitat, since the box has a wired connection. Just in case, I enabled a 2.4GHz IoT wifi network option that Orbi provides and hooked up the switch there.

With these changes in place, Hubitat's matter pairing process was successful and quick.

I had a very similar issue with my Unifi setup and Govee. The only thing I done was setup IPv6 on my Unifi router and everything went back to normal.
