Unable to migrate to C8 Pro from C7. No cloud backup

Both hubs on newest platform, I have tried repeatedly to create the cloud backup to migrate and it never appears. Says it has completed successfully. What gives?

Can you clarify which step in the migration process is not working for you?

The part where the cloud backup should happen? It completed successfully on the C7 hub, hub gets shut down, no backup appears in the migration ready backups on the C8 Pro.

Ok, just to be clear:

  1. Cloud and LAN integrations disabled
  2. Backup made on C7, completed successfully
  3. C7 shut down
  4. C8 Pro booted, logged in, no cloud backups available

I have done this process REPEATEDLY.

You're sure that both of the hubs are registered on the same Hubitat account?

You're doing a cloud backup on the C7, not local, right? (Just being sure...)

You're selecting either Migration ready backups on the C8-Pro:

Yes. There are no Migration Ready backups on the C8 Pro, and yes, this is a cloud backup. Logs say it is successful yet its never there. Looks as though I have a very expensive paper weight...

I'd not panic yet...unless you prefer.

Confirm both hubs can be found and appear on your account:

Log in if requested and click on Registered hubs to confirm both hubs appear there

Ok, now we might be onto something. I only have my C7 hub in registered hubs, the C8 Pro isn't there.

OK, we have found our rabbit.

I think if you use the Find Hubs option you will be offered the opportunity to register any unregistered hubs it finds...

Then the migration backup will be found by the new hub.

Been ages since I've registered a hub so my hubfuju is weak around that...

Then its not registered to the same account.

There are "How to register later" instructions in the docs:
Registration and Setup | Hubitat Documentation

If you dont have the Register Hub option as shown in the docs, then it is already registered to some other account. There are deregistration instructions on the forums somewhere (might also be in docs at this point).

Just in case anyone were to run into this in the future...

I don't know what exactly happened but the registration of my Pro did not appear. Factory reset the hub, powered on, and was able to adopt it and make the backup.

Story doesn't end there though, restoring the backup failed, Webcore being the offender. After a bit of sleuthing I found you need to individually disable all the pistons, disable all the pistons in the main Webcore settings, then disable Webcore.

A soft reset and another restore later and we are up and running!

Glad to hear you're migrated and up and running. Enjoy your C8-Pro!
