worked for the first 2 or 3 weeks.. then this started happening. I've reset EVERYTHING from my router to dumping cache... even had my 3 yo daughter ( who's an IT professional ) slap her c-5 model with her hammer to threaten it... still nothing. I'm losing hope.
Is it possible the hub’s IP address changed? Did you set a DHCP reservation for it in your router’s settings?
Which model hub?
What color is the LED light on the hub?
Have you tried a different power supply?
Have you tried a different Ethernet cable?
Have you tried a different Ethernet port on your router/switch?
Can you ‘ping’ the hub?
Just a few ideas...
I didn't set a DHCP for it... don't know what that is but i'll look it up. thank you.
C-7 , green, yes, yes, yes, and how do i ping the hub? thank you.
when I try to do the "local hub discovery" on the app on my phone i get nothing. before i searched it had the same IP but once i searched it didn't find a thing.
DHCP stands for dynamic host configuration protocol.
Most consumer-grade routers use this protocol to assign IP addresses to client devices on the LAN. If a device drops off the network for a period of time, the router might reassign a different IP address when the device pops back up again on the network.
For many devices, that won’t matter, but for hubitat that can be a problem.
DHCP reservation is a setting in your router that tells it to assign the same IP address to a certain device all the time (identified by its MAC address).
If you login to your router, you can check whether the hub has a different IP address than the one it was originally assigned. If it does, and your router has a DHCP reservation setting, try configuring it to use the currently assigned IP address and then browse to your hub at that address.
thank you, the IP address has been pushed onto one of the echo dot's ... and the mac id for the hub isn't even showing up... so I'm assuming that for some reason it's just not connecting somehow? I'll try taking it off of the router and onto a switch. /shrug.
Thank you, I've gotten it back on my list, not i'm trying to learn to assign the correct ip address back to the hub.
Not just your hub. You'll need to make sure you use DHCP reservations for most of your Wi-Fi enabled HA stuff. If a devices changes IP most integrations will fail. I recommend getting familiar with your routers UI and DCHP tables. Any device you see in there that plays a role in your automations should have a reservation set.
and Welcome to the HE community.
I saw there was a notification today (Jan. 29, 2021) which said there was a new version to install. This was to go from version 2.2.4.15 to version 2.2.5.123.
It indicated it should take a couple of minutes to do each step. The download and verification took a few minutes each, but it was well over an hour in the Applying Update stage before I did anything else. It was running the install from on a year old iPad that is is getting about 190 Mbps, so speed shouldn’t have been the issue.
Note: I opened a new tab to run Speed Test on my iPad to report the above # to Hubitat. After I got it and returned to the Update Hubitat Elevation page it now says I’m running version 2.2.4.158 and it is Checking for Update. That has been running for well over an hour now.
If I go to the Hubitat app on my iPhone it says there is no response from the hub. If I try to log in from my computer is says: Safari Can’t Connect to the Server in big letters and below that it says Safari can’t open the page “10.0.1.52” because Safari can’t connect to the server “10.0.1.52”.
I have a blue light on the hub.
If I go into the app and try Local Hub Discovery Searching says it is running (for well over an hour now) and never finds anything.
I have no idea what the IP was and did not set it to a fixed IP.
What do I do now?
HELP please.
(And this is why Hubitat should have a phone number).
Thanks,
Stuart
Sorry about the update troubles. Here are the steps to try;
- Go to http://your.hubs.ip.address:8081/
- Revert to previous version.
- After it comes up, go to http://your.hubs.ip.address:8081/ yet again and "revert" to version 2.2.5.
- It's possible that 2.2.5 is not showing as an option at this point. Use Download latest version to get it onto the hub. Doing so doesn't switch to the downloaded version, so once download is done, use revert option to switch.
- If it still doesn't come up, revert to previous version and let us know.
