Yesterday I got a notification to update my hub to the newest version, 2.2.6.129 from 2.2.4.158. I accepted it & it did the install. Today I cannot connect to my hub. It says it cannot connect to the server. This is the first time I have accepted an update. Is there something I need to do to restore connection to the hub after an update? Bad update?
Appreciate any help so I can turn my lights on & off before the wife shoots me.
When you set up your hub did establish a reserved IP address (probably in your router) so the hub will get the same IP address when it restarts? That is often a cause of not being able to connect.
Go to my.hubitat.com, it will show you the IP your hub has, and let you connect to it.
But the right thing to do is to set up a DHCP lease reservation on your router for your hub so the IP doesn’t change.
I tried locating the hub via MAC address, it found it, but with the same IP address. I entered that IP address into my browser, but still cannot connect to that IP. Says "This site cannot be reached. Refused to connect". I'm guessing that doing the update changed the IP address? Is there a way to find the new IP address?
Several ways:
(1) look on your router, see what DHCP lease reservations are active
(2) from a command line on your computer, do the command:
arp -a
That will show a list of IP addresses and MAC addresses known to your network interface, compare with the MAC address on the bottom of your hub
(3) use a network scanner program such as Fing to scan your network.
I usually use #2.
I'm having a similar issue after running an update. I'm able to locate the new IP address when I search by mac address at my.hubitat.com, but I get a timeout error when attempting to connect and pings also fail.
Have you tried: http://hubitat.local
Just tried. Server not Found error
What color is the LED (and if not a C7 what model hub)?
It is a C7 and it is green.
Should have the UI up then. Let’s try http://find.hubitat.com to see if it gives us a different IP, if not then we can try http://hubIP:8080 and if that doesn’t work http://hubIP:8081
Please try rebooting it using the hidden reboot button.
I did the reboot and then tried all the links @thebearmay mentioned. I got the same IP Address but I had to search by Mac ID And am still having an issue. I'm starting to think something went wrong with the update since that is when this began.
When I had the similar problem, it ended up being my Hubitat had died & they sent me a new one. It was just coincidental that it died just as I had installed an update.
Could you please PM me the MAC address on the bottom of the hub? Not sure if it will work, but I can try looking it up in the support tool and see if it responds.
Got the PM, the hub's not online. Well, it was worth a shot.
Is it connected directly to the router or is there some other networking equipment inbetween?
If yes, could you please try a different router port and (if there is one around) a different cable?
Changing out the cable seemed to fix it. I have to used advanced search to locate it, but it comes online and I can connect.
Nevermind. Started the next update and now it's not showing as a registered hub for my account and I can't find it by mac address.
Can you access the hub interface if you go to its IP address?
That didn't work either. I was able to get it working again just now. It seems after every update I'm having to perform an esoteric routine of changing the ethernet cable, connecting directly to the Google Wifi Router, and using the reset button on the hub itself. Then I can reconnect it to the network switch and everything works fine. If I don't do all 3 it won't work as I tried connecting directly and resetting while using the new known-good cable I switched to last night.
