My journey into Hubitat is a ton of fun so far. Ran into a curious issue after installing my first two dimmer switches, both UltraPro 39351 Z-Wave Smart Rocker Dimmer Switches. I've tried to customize the paddles' behaviors to just the basics, using the app Button Controller 5.1.
**-- Is Button Controller 5.1 the right way to do it? Or is there a more standard/basic way to tweak the button's behaviors? **
In Button Controller, I'm trying to make the regular tap UP/DOWN just turn the lights ON/OFF instantly, without the slow 2-3 second ramp rate. So I've set the "fade" to 0.
But tapping the paddle button still seems to slowly fade the light over 2-3 seconds. Happens when I turn it on or off.
Any advice on how to make the lights turn on/off instantly without any fading?
My solution was to return those switches and go with Zooz dimmers instead. They have a default ramp rate of 1 second, which is perfect for my taste. Plus the custom driver does a bunch of stuff, like letting me choose the color and behavior of the LED indicator. And when I got stuck, the Zooz support crew was super fast and helpful with answers. They asked for photos of my wiring, and sent me back exact instructions on how to wire it, then program it. I’m incredibly happy with the decision.
Yep! I’ve received indispensable amounts of help from @agnes.zooz and her teammates. She’s one of the sharpest, kindest, most knowledgeable people. I wish there were more of her in this universe, and together we could automate every household on the planet.
