Ultraloc Zwave - can you still connect it without their app?

Can you still connect the Ultraloc to Hubitat without using the Ultraloc App, as described by @mbbush in this post:

Well, I have some good news. The lock's documentation says that you can't connect it to a zwave hub until after you've set it up using their app, which exposes you to their bad security practices. Fortunately, that's not true. I suspected that might be the case, as I would think that the z-wave alliance would insist on it for certification. I was able to successfully set mine up with fingerprints and codes, and no app/cloud functionality, by following their directions to enter "standalone mode"…

or has Ultraloc somehow closed that back door?

I need to replace a non-connected keypad lock on a crawlspace door, and am looking for one with physical keys that is rated for punishing sun, has a keyed backup, smaller form factor and can be connected to HE. Despite it's drawbacks noted on numerous posts, the Ultraloc seems to meet those criteria. I don't care about knowing which code was used to open it, because I'll give it it's own code, and I'm the only one who ever uses its. However, if it needs their app to work, I'm not buying it...

I cannot imagine it would pass zwave certification with SmartStart if you had to use the vendors app. Maybe just make sure you can pair it up before installing it. In case you need to send it back.

I was able to successfully set mine up with fingerprints and codes, and no app/cloud functionality, by following their directions to enter "standalone mode", and then using the smartstart QR code to pair. There are also some directions on the zwave alliance product page that show you how to enter pairing mode. Something about holding down the number 5.
