I updated my c7 to the c8 with no issues so I installed the c7 on our vacation home. if I create a second account I assume I can log out of one account on my phone app and open the second and be able to control switches, add apps, etc. currently if I use settings and switch hubs I have no access to the vacation home. 2nd option or question is if I subscribe to remote access can I use one account and switch hubs in settings or would I still need to create a second account and log in and log out?
One account will work with the remote access. Many people, including me, use a VPN to connect to the remote site. The VPN can be either site-site or client-site. I do both as failover. When I am on site, it uses the site-site. When away, or if site-site is down, I can use client-site. Most modems can do one or both. I use a dedicated device at each site.
I don't want to use a vpn, I simply want to access my vacation hub from primary home or away from vacation home. both hubs show on my account and both offer seperate remote access for a fee which I'm fine with but I'm thinking if I un-register the vacation home hub, create a new account, re-register the hub on the new account, then I'm assuming i can access a unique dashboard to control switches and valves. I assume I would log out of my app relog in to the new account. I currently able to access my primary dashboard from out of town so I would think with a new account I can access the vacation dashboard from anywhere as well. does that sound reasonable?
@jwwells1 looks like you may have 2 different ids, and the system flagged your last post as spam. Let me know if you'd like us to merge the two different accounts.
Sorry for the confusion. To access devices connected to a remote hub via dashboards doesn't require a subscription or a different account. The Dashboard comes with free remote access. You may need a VPN or Remote Admin add-on subscription if you intend to manage the hub remotely, like creating rules and changing hub settings, but otherwise, both the Mobile app and the dasboard can be used to control devices remotely.
To add to what @bobbyd said, when you use one account,(recommended) all you have to do is click the select hub button. You don't have to go through logging out and logging back in. You can also use Hub Connect in HPM to connect to both hubs so you can send alerts and look at status's on just one hub., That way lets say on your main hub at your main house you could create a separate dash for your vacation home and not even switch to the other hub. unless you're programming or doing admin functions.
