I recently installed a Hubitat and various different devices throughout our home. Everything went well so far, however now there is a task that I am looking to do and struggling to fine the simplest way to do it. I am hoping someone can help me with an answer.
In the home I have numerous motion sensors and door sensors. I also am getting a siren / strobe light. What I want to be able to do is to have the siren / strobe light go off when any motion is sensed or doors are open, but only when we are not home. Looking at the mode manager documentation, I do not see what I need in there as I do not want to set a schedule for it, use a button in the home, etc.
Ideally it would be active only when I am outside the geofence area set up for the home. Also, I would like to be able to turn the alarm on and off from the dashboard. Are both of these possible? If not, can I do one of them.
Any guidance on how I can accomplish this is greatly appreciated!
What you want to use is the app Hubitat Safety Monitor. That is the Security solution in Hubitat. There is a tile for the dashboard that can be used to change the state which can have a pin applied to it as well. I would check out this video.
You can use the Life360 app and integration to HE (or the HE mobile app too, although less reliably in my experience) to provide the geolocation info to your rules in HE. This way you can set your Mode to 'Away' or suchlike automatically based on whether you are sensed to be at home or not. It works great for use cases like the one you explain above. Many posts on this subject if you take a look.
Thanks for the help with this. I was able to successfully set up the safety monitor and everything associated with it. However I cannot find how to get the function to be able to arm / disarm set up on the dashboard. Looked in previous posts and did not come up with anything.
Sure. Go into your dashboard, tap the Plus sign in the upper right corner, select the HSM template from the list, you don't have to select a device, and then tap add tile. And there you go! You may have to make the tile larger than other tiles depending on the size of your dashboard as it's a bit bigger.
No problem. Sometimes people get tripped up because for most tiles you have to pick a device first. I've answered that same question a half dozen times, so you're not the first to have it. I've been trying to figure out an easier way to list it but I haven't come up with anything better than is already implemented. If you can think of any, I'd love to hear. Glad you were able to get sorted out.
This works, but only with 'Arm - Away from home'. Do you know how to add a second status HSM tile to show status of 'Arm - While home'? Diff is just motion detectors.
