Turn off disabled logic question

As you can see in the screenshot I have it set to disable the light turning off when the contact is OPEN. However as you can see the current state of the contact is CLOSED and it's causing the turn off the be disabled.

If my interpretation of the phrasing is correct, I expect the opening of the contact sensor needs to happen, i.e. an event where the contact goes from closed to open. If so, then it is most likely working as intended, rather than a bug.

There has been some discussion along similar lines recently, I'll see if I can track down the conversation I am thinking of.

I think you want to use Conditions, rather than Events:

It isn't clear from your screenshot if this is the entire rule or if it is only the top part of it.. the bottom appears that it maybe cut off.

When you select " Disable Turning Off upon these Events" events, there is an option to then select " Re-Enable Turning Off upon these Events *" which will show in the summary. This option is not shown in the screenshot provided.

If you don't have device events selected to re-enable, or those events have not been seen, the rule will remain in the "Off disabled" state.

There are options to re-enable activation, Alex just must not have them selected. You can do something like this (which is something I missed in my suggestion, good pick-up @tony.fleisher ):

I had mistakenly thought it was conditional when it was actually in fact an event trigger. Thank you for explaining!

@bravenel While looking into this, I noticed that the device selection for the " Re-Enable Turning Off upon these Events" section is not required for most of the event types (it appears to be required for the first 3 but not the others). Is this intentional or an oversight?

I don't know, and I'm not sure it matters. I will look into it. Having something to Re-Enable is required if there is a selection to Disable.
