Turn Light off after 30 minutes

Ah, thank you @marktheknife. The conversation went back and forth between the two and I thought people were saying the simple automation would be the easiest way. Ok, looking at the simple automation, I can only have a delay on the counter action of something else? Is that right? I don't want to turn off the light then turn it on again after some delay.

So, to simply turn it off after some delay (without turning it on), I should look more into the Rule Machine and skip this simple automation right?

Correct. I think the most common use case would be to turn lights on immediately with motion, then turn off after a delay once motion has stopped.

Correct again. If you want an action to be delayed x minutes after a door closes, rule machine can do that.
