Trying to customize a Dashboard template but cannot

I feel that I may be missing something very obvious....

I have a custom device with a device state called "Voltage" which is simply a numeric being constantly updated my ST_Anything device.

Im trying to display the Custom Device's Voltage in the dashboard but there doesn't appear to be a dashboard template that I can use..

Can I modify the "generic" dashboard template ? and if so, can anyone instruct me on how....
