TP Link Deco M9

Hi Guys,

Brand new and yet to set things up but have a quick question about Mesh WiFi.

I am looking to upgrade from my Virgin Hub3 router and go for a mesh network, It seems like the TP-Link Deco M9 is a popular and rated option. But I note that this comes with an integrated Hub.

My question is, will this integrated hub cause any issues for my Hubitat? If possible I won't activate/use the hub functionality as I prefer to use the Hubitat I have bought. But I am not sure if this is possible or if anyone has any experience with these routers?

Thanks guys.

As long as you don't pair a Zigbee device to the M9 and expect HE to control it you should be fine.

I'll add a couple suggestions to @thebearmay's reply:

  1. If you don't plan on using the Deco M9's zigbee radio, then turn it off if possible.
  2. If you can't turn if off, set the M9 and Hubitat to use distinct zigbee channels.

Hi @aaiyar @thebearmay

Thank you guys for the quick responses.

it looks like you cannot turn it off (checking TP-Link forums). So I will either take @aaiyar suggestion or consider the alternate router: AmpliFi HD.

Thanks guys!!
