C8 keeps dropping Zigbee devices constantly so I have to manually re-pair them, even the plugged in devices have dropped. Will take a couple days to settle down? I'm thinking of returning the C8-Pro, maybe I got a faulty one?
My C8Pro seems happiest at ZigBee channel 25 and power level 8.
What is your RF environment like? Maybe something new in the mix?
I had 25 and 16. I just realized my ZWave devices have stopped responding too. I'm going to return this product and return to C5 for now. I'll probably move full-time to Home Assistant.
Can you list the Brands and models of the decices failing. Several things changes with the C8 Pro which includes both radios. Zwave 800 with zigbee 3.0 vs zwave 500 with the zigbe1.2 ZHA i believe. Big upgrades and there were some issues for users with older gear. That is part of the reason some folks still sport a C5 with their C8pro so they can support devices that dont play nice with the new radios.
If you tell us what you have we may be able to identify the problem devices.
It's mostly the sensors that I'm having issues with.
Zooz 4-in-1 (Zwave sensors)
Aqara Temperature and Humidity (Zigbee sensors)
it's not a very complex system, 30 devices total.
My Router's 2.5GHz network is set to use Channel 9
Zigbee: Channel:25; Power Level 16
ZWave: US-LR
I just changed the Zigbee Power Level to 8 like @Ranchitat mentioned and that seems to be working!
Now I just have the Zwave issues, but maybe I'll just use the C5 for those with Hub Mesh enabled.
I ended up going down to power 4 -- one big thing that really helped when I moved from my C-7 to my 8 was putting the zigbee transmission workload on my repeaters (instead of chasing direct connections). Dropping power to 4 was a huge help.
Moving to channel 25 and getting rid of / swapping out any older ZHA1.2 repeaters (in favor of ZB3.0) were the other 2 things that finally got my zigbee smooth & stable.
Thanks for all the suggestions but this thing is going back tomorrow. I’m going to revert the to C5 and then find a more reliable product.
Your experience isn't normal. For most people, a C8 Pro should be a massive improvement.
I understand you are frustrated, but if the C5 was working fine, the C8 should too. There is either some device that is acting up, or maybe you have a bad hub? Have you contacted support to see if there is something they can help you with?
I am suspicious because your migration didn't work like it should have. Maybe that is a clue for support to investigate.
Looking around the community, I see a lot of people complaining about both zwave and zigbee radios on C8. I think it’s just the luck of the draw due to lack of quality control.
Last night my daughter’s bedroom got down to 50 f degrees because the zigbee sensor just stopped. I got up at 4AM and had to refresh the sensor.
C5 has been working for 6 years consistently, every night so I’m just going to stick with the C5 until Matter devices become more available.
