I was out dropping food for a friend who lives about 4-5 miles away. And although the storm hasn't moved in yet, there's terrible weather out there. I saw a mini-twister on the service road that runs along I-10. Really eerie to see half-broken branches dancing in a circle about 6-10 feet above the ground.
Got out of there as quick as I could. Now I'm wishing I had the guts to stay for 30 seconds to film it from my car.
Be safe
I'm here from Iowa a little town right outside of Lake Charles. We were hit really hard by Laura last year. Praying for anybody that will be affected by Ida.
If you're going to take a Cat 4 hit, you want it to be quick --have some ground speed. Ida has all but stalled over southern LA.
Nice.. I’m from the Scott/Lafayette area..
Laura wasn’t too bad for us over here.. Delta (the hurricane) did a good number on us though..

Stay safe my friend.
No water, no power, siding blown off part of my house. So I’ve got water coming in slowly. My shed roof flew away. But the levees held, so I don’t think we’ll flood. Overall could’ve been much worse. Pray that the levees hold overnight. Thanks!
I am so glad the levees are holding. We will continue to pray Ashok.
Thinking of you mate, and everyone else in the path of Ida, stay safe.
We pray for you and the folks in the target area.
We watch the effects of hurricanes and fires on TV and our logical mind understands but there is no way for us to know the hardship it causes.
When Katrina hit my wife had a Pinterest follower with whom she communicated with periodically. Her house was flooded and she had a horrible time. So instead of donating to one of the organizations we send a couple of hundred dollars to her via bank check. It still seemed inadequate.
Thank you @JohnRob!
There’s a silver lining to every dark cloud. While it was devastating, I made some long lasting friendships during my Katrina rebuild.
Less of a rebuild this time - all I need is new siding. But still made some friends already.
Fantastic news!! Glad to hear that you are okay..
@bcopeland just pointed out to me another legit silver lining. I can be drinking beer in the middle of the day - there’s precious little else to do. So this one is to thank all of you for your good wishes and prayers. The major levees held!
So glad you are OK
I am so glad to hear you and your family made it through the storm safely.
