Is it possible to set up some kind of rule for RGB bulbs that if the bulb is turned on between say 0630 and 2130 it would be 2700k, but between 2139 and 0630 it would be red? I would think it should be possible, but i have no idea how to do that.
Yes this is pretty straightforward though of course there many ways to do it. How are you controlling the lights currently? My personal approach is to use a combination of mode and mode&motion lighting. Here's how my hall lights are set up, based on the modes day, cloudy, evening, night, and predawn.
Well the lights I'm focusing on right now are our bedroom, and are not really AUTOMATED, but controlled. We just do not have a regular enough routine to automate bedroom lights, so they are controlled through the dashboard (Hubitat dashboard since I can no longer get the local dashboard to run through the app locally) . Currently I go into the app and set it to either temperature or color before turning the lights on (Inovelli bulbs). Eventually the lights will be added to Alexa, and I may even attempt to use some motion .
so ideally , whether using dashboard, Alexa or motion, would like them to be 2700K between 0630 and 2130, than after 2130 if they are turned on to be red.
could create a virtual switch (VS) to control this. then create a rule with a trigger of the VS changing.
in the actions, if the VS is off, turn lights off. if the VS is turned on, if it's between 0630-2130, set to 2700K, else set to red
