I'm having the same issue. I get " This site can’t be reached" when trying to connect to my hub using Chrome and Firefox. Fortunately, Safari is working just fine. But, I'd like to use Chrome. Any ideas how I can solve this? I've tried moving the hub from WiFi to an Ethernet connection, makes no difference.
You might be seeing the same error message in a browser window but that doesn’t mean you have the same issue. @moderators can you split the above post off into a new topic and close this one since it’s been a year since it was created?
Reboot hub, check for updates.
Try an ingocnito window in chrome.
How are you trying to connect? Direct to the IP? Hostname? Via the Hubitat portal???
Need more details.
Seems to only affect my Mac computers (MacBook Pro and MacBook Air). Chrome works fine using my Windows 11 box.
I've tried disabling all my Chrome extensions and in Incognito mode. I've tried connecting to the IP address and hubitat.local. The 8081 page won't load either. Actual error in Chrome is:
This site can’t be reached
http://192.168.1.225/ is unreachable.
ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE
Firefox reports "Unable to connect"
An error occurred during a connection to 192.168.1.225.
I'm at a loss here, this had been working fine for me on my Mac(s) up until a few weeks ago. As I said earlier, the Safari browser works fine.
Interesting observation. I just downloaded and installed the Microsoft Edge browser for Mac. Entered HTTP://hubitat.local and got the same "Unable to connect" error as seen in Chrome and Firefox. THEN... after about 10 seconds... the Hubitat page loaded.
The .local domain can be slow to resolve sometimes, using the direct IP is best.
You sure you don't have some sort of VPN enabled just in Chrome? Sounds like maybe your traffic is being tunneled and thus cannot access the local network.
There is a button in the settings someplace to reset chrome to defaults.
UPDATE (RESOLUTION)
I was using Chrome on my Mac today (Sequoia 15.0.1) and I tried to connect to my Hubitat just to see if it would work. I got a pop-up notification that said "Allow 'Chrome' to find devices on local networks?' and I clicked "Allow". Now I'm able to get to my Hubitat admin page. So, apparently, Chrome was denied access previously which explains why Safari worked and my Windows box worked.
