What are the possibilities of integrating

  • node.js
  • MQTT

Directly into Hubitat? There’s a lot of external things that can be very easily integrated with those two things and they would be local.

Example: harmony-api server that is used for the Harmony SmartApp for ST.

There are other systems out there as well that can be integrated with those as well. Not a lot of overhead in system resources to have them available. Benefit, don’t have to tell customers to use a Raspberry Pi for (most) things. Course a lot of us (me) would still use an rPi just to off-load the traffic and resources. The resources is why I think it might be controversal. Adds more pieces that have potential for breaking (I get it, I’m a systems engineer).

I second this, especially the node.js. There’s a few integration paths I’ve stayed away from so far because I don’t really want multiple extra devices for running stuff. More things to break.
