Thinking About a Second Hub, Device Question

I like speed, I like efficiency, I like logic -- why not add a second hub to spread the work better and add redundancy?

My concerns ---

  1. If I mesh them together, will I be able to migrate some devices from the primary to the secondary in the software or will I have to remove the device and add it to the secondary?

  2. I have a satellite wifi router, on the same subnet as the main router, that has standard LAN ports. can I plug the secondary hub in there or will I need to run a cable for the secondary hub?

  3. Any known glitches with adding a secondary hub I should be aware of?

  1. Remove then add
  2. Can use the satellite
  3. Haven’t found any yet as long as you have a strong mesh on both.

1: If you have Hub Protect you can migrate your z-wave radio to another hub. Zigbee will have to be re paired to the new hub.

2: You can plug in to any switch on your network but in order to use hub mesh you have to be on the same subnet

3: Some people use 4, 5, and 6 hubs...

Note: This would help in isolating your bulbs as I mentioned in my other post to you

So I could migrate the ZWave and leave the Zigbee behind to get around doing a mass re-add?

You could migrate the z-wave via restore only if you have Hub protect. For zigbee devices you will have to manually pair each one to the new hub.
