I need some help, because I am stuck and don't know what to do at this moment.
I'm in Europe (relevant for device availability) and have a C8 with about 40 ZWave devices (incl. 3 repeaters and about 15 ZWave router capable devices), plus a HUE bridge for some zigbee lamps. I have 5 TRV's (Eurotronic) and underfloor heating in the livingroom with 2 zones (each 3 loops using a Fibaro dual relay to switch multiple Danfoss 12volt TWA valves). I am using a HeatIT Temp2 thermostat in the living room, because my wife wants to have that local control option. Which is fine, but the darn thing drops its connection to the C8 every other day, This breaks my automations (virtual thermostat app for scheduling) and makes the living too cold for my wife an kids. Once you pull the batteries and put them back in it all works again, but this is annoying and preventing me from mounting it on a wall. So I am thinking about replacing it with something more reliable and hopefully without a battery but with a wired powersupply. Here is where my problem starts.....
A physical thermostat that uses 230v or USB for power, allows local use (temp up/down), shows the current boiler state (is or is not currently heating) but wirelessly communicates with the hub over Z-Wave or WiFi, does not seem to exist. Does anyone have a suggestion for me, that I might have missed?
I am considering turning on Matter en perhaps getting a Tado-X heating sensor. This is getting some good reviews. But it still uses batteries, so I am not really sure about this. I also want full local functionality and adding a Matter bridge would not work for this requirement, because they all require the internet to function and you need one to initially put a Matter device in pairing mode so it can be adopted into my hub.
So.... am I stuck and do I need to change my requirements or am I not aware of some product, setting or whatever. Please advice.... am I wrecking my brain on this one and the WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) of my home automation hobby is going down fast.!!
