When is the Alexa skill going to be updated? It's still in the dark ages and needs a make over.

I'm curious - what type of updates did you have in mind? The one thing I'd like is to query device status, eg. "Alexa is the water heater on"?
Both the Alexa and Google Home integrations need the fan capability added. As well as passing of sensor data.
The querying of device status isn't a limitation of HE it is a limitation of Alexa. It doesn't support that for any skill so HE can't add it until it is supported by Alexa globally. GH on the other supports this already. Another difference between the two I wasn't aware of.

I would like to see the ability to open/close garage doors through the Alexa skill set. Locks seem to work but garage doors do not.
