Temp sensor w/ external probe support?

Do you happen to know if it for sure works with Hubitat? I would assume yes, but can’t find it mentioned previously anywhere.

I believe it's just a generic switch

Fundamentally it's their Door Sensor, with the probe added to their internal screw posts.

I just posted my setup in another thread. FGK-101 with DS18B20.

That Ecolink sensor doesn't report the temperature. It just sends a notification if the temp gets too low and there's no capability for that functionality so Hubitat only supports water detection for that device.

Well that’s unfortunate.

Fibaro's door sensor is basically the same idea:

https://manuals.fibaro.com/document/fgk-temperature-sensor/

Inside is a 4 screw header, Buy the DS18B20 temp sensor (I recently bought 6 - I have two expoxied into a 1/2" PVC plug if you need) and add it into the Door Sensor per those instructions.

I happen to have that Fibaro Door Sensor AND I have a spare DS18B20 -- I should wire it up and let us all know !!

I have one working already for my aquarium temperature sensor.

I have a Visonic MCT-340 E Contact Sensor that seems pretty reliable reporting temperature. I'm using the "Generic Zigbee contact sensor" driver.

Not sure what delay you would get if you used the complete unit, but if insulated with some foam you might be OK. I haven't opened it up to see if the sensor could be made remote. But it was only $19.99 on Amazon.

I wired up the DS18B20 sensor... the wires really need tinning to pass through the plastic housing and into the screw slot. Hope your solder skills are up to that.

Then I paired it and it shows as a Device, which I changed to the native Fibaro Door/Window Sensor 2 driver.

Which device model is this?

Fibaro FGK-10x

Got a bunch of other numbers on the box.. maybe they will help:
ZW5 v3.2 (101)
30/03/2017

I never paired it before because it uses that odd 1/2 AA (3.6v) battery.

I tap the bottom button and it syncs then goes right back into pending. Tamper is set default to 5 seconds, still shows tamper: detected.

If I use that DH, the device drops off and stops reporting.
Using the one mentioned in the thread I quoted, it stays on line.
Here it is.

 *	The current version of this Handler is parameterized to force Device's wakeup :
 *		- on any open<->closed state change
 * - in case of Tampering Alarm triggering
 *		- every 60mn (wakeUpIntervalSet(seconds:60*60), hard coded)
 * - whenever Temperature delta change since last report is greater than 0.3°C (Parameter#12 or #51, hard coded)
 * - every 4h when Temperature does not change
 *		also :
 *		- Temperature is natively reported by sensor in Celsius (SensorMultilevelReport[scale:0]);
 * convertion is needed for Fahrenheit display
 *
 * A few specificities of this device that are relevant to better understand some parts of this Handler :
 * - it is a battery operated device, so Commands can only be sent to it whenever it wakes up
 *		- it is a multi-channel Device (pre-ZW5), and the multi-level temperature sensor reports only from EndPoint#2
 * - specific configurable parameters are documented in the above Operating Manuals
 * - some of those parameters must be modified to activate the anti-Tampering Alarm
 * - some of the "scaffolding" has been left in place as comments, since it may help other people to understand/modify this Handler
 * - BEWARE : the optional DS18B20 temperature sensor must be connected BEFORE the Device is activated (otherwise, reset the Device)
 *		- IMPORTANT : for debugging purpose, it is much better to change the wake-up period from the default 60mn to 1mn or so;
 * but unless you force the early wake up of the sensor (forcing open/closed for instance), you will have to
 * wait up to 60mn for the new value to become effective.

Seems to be a Battery Hog too. :slight_smile:

Current States

battery : 24
contact : open
syncStatus : 1 Pending Change
tamper : detected
temperature : 89.37

I'm using the same driver. Temp works great for me. I am also seeing the persistent "1 pending change".

I "broke the seal" so to speak, on this device to help @murray.sean.d and I agree, it does temp. It's different from all the other temp devices I have (Aeon MultiSensor6, Dome, Iris) the temp doesn't just update time based, but the native driver has temp Threshold too.

I'll give that driver a try @bobbles -- thanks, because now that it's out of the box and paired, I may as well use it, at least til this battery dies :slight_smile:

FWIW I had problems with JJ's driver/handler for the FGK-101 on Hubitat. Can't remember specifics, it was when I was in the process of migrating.

There were quite a few issues i seem to remember as well. I looked for the errors in the logs and just commented out the lines giving the errors. Not very scientific but I'm not a coder. More and poke and hope it works. :smile:

All things being equal, I prefer the Native Hubitat driver for it's features of Temp Threshold and Temp Reporting Interval.

Obviously if it's going to fall offline a lot, it's not "equal". So I'm going to let this percolate for a while.
