SystronicsRF email... I will stay with HE team, much better!

I believe @srwhite talked about this somewhere here in this community.

....

Thank you for registering with the SystronicsRF website.

We are now moving to the next stage in the introduction of the new system. This will be known as the Gamma stage, and the opportunity to participate is being limited to those who have shown most interest in using the system.

As you have registered with the website, or have contacted us by other means, you are invited to participate in this next stage. The license fee is $95.00 for an individual control system. There are no recurring subscription fees, and this price includes updates and support for the first twelve months.

This support will be primarily in the form of support tickets, which you will be able to submit online, and to which we will respond by email. We are also making a closed forum available solely for all Gamma users.

We have also found it very beneficial to access the systems used by the Beta testers remotely, because it is often the quickest way of resolving any less straightforward issues. In many cases, this has also included telephone calls to individual users, at agreed times. This enables us to monitor the behavior of the system in real time, while it is being used, such when pairing devices.

You might also be interested in the progress that has been made during the Beta testing, which has undertaken throughout March. Firstly, the following is a list of the 43 device types that are currently fully functional with the control systems being used by the Beta testers:

Several Beta testers have very large systems. For example, one user has a total of 156 devices, including 53 1st generation Iris devices, 25 2nd generation Iris devices, 62 Z-Wave devices, and 16 other devices. Another user has only 1st generation Iris devices, and has 86 of them.

We are continuing to add further devices, and to improve operation and performance of the system, as well as adding new features. Z-Wave door locks and WiFi cameras are now being added to the system. Up to now, the control system has been controlled locally, via the home WiFi, and the next stage includes the addition of remote access, and voice command systems, such as will Alexa.

We will be sending a further email in the next few days, which will contain the information for installing and using the system.

If you do not want to participate in this Gamma stage, then please respond accordingly to this email.

Best Regards,

Is this YAHAS (Yet Another Home Automation System)?

Yep, this one claims they worked with Iris v1 but they released the license sale today, so HE won this race.

Is that javascript custom stuffs? That'd be pretty attractive, I don't have a lot of Java experience, it's a muddle for me.

But, these guys are no where near prime time yet.

I'm particularly flabbergasted with the impressively massive number of supported devices...

I believe I heard it was C#

I have refrained from criticizing these guys but I'm sorry, they are so far out of touch with the home automation market I doubt the viability of the company. If they survive, it'll forever be a platform in search of a market under this model.

You don't even have to be an analyst to see that...

With Hubitat (and even less for SmartThings but without v1 support), for $100 you get a Hubitat hub, complete with Zigbee and Z-Wave radios, out-of-the-box support for V1 devices and hundreds more devices, and support that isn't limited to 12 months.

WIth Systronics that $95 does not get you a working system. What you do get is beta-quality software and 12 months while they help you test it. Of course you cannot do that until you shell out another $150 more according to purchase 3 radio sticks; (1) Z-Wave and (2) Zigbee since V1 devices cannot coexist in the same mesh on that platform. In total, for $250 you get a half-baked ("gamma-quality") platform, small selection of supported devices, oh and after a year you gotta pay up if you want support and updates.

I would not walk away from that, I would run as fast as I could!!

I literally laughed out loud when I read @vjv's message.

EDIT....

What the hell does that make my system? I've got 3x that many devices!

Oh my!

I was also balking at paying that much for a beta test. I feel like I'm getting pooched by Oculus or something.

Is it just me, or did they repeat several devices in that long list? Like some of the iris gen 1 devices...

Also, is gamma testing a real thing? Seriously, Iā€™m not in the IT world professionally. To me it sounds like marketing BS, but what do I know?

Lol, yeah I noticed the duplicates as well...

I considered them but I was very hesitant to go the raspberry pi route and then have to pay for additional software. They received a lot of attention from many former Iris users as they already had developed support for Iris v1 devices, although it was not in release. They committed to focusing on iris v1 and grabbed a bunch of Iris users for their beta.

Once I found Hubitat and strolled though the Community for a bit it became clear to me that getting the HE hub and having the support I found on the site to be an easy decision. It may be a rare occurrence but I believe it has already proved to be the right decision. And as of now, I have have all the v1 devices I need with the exception of the keypad, which I was not even using at the time Iris announced the shutdown. In tow weeks I have grown so confident in the HE capabilities that I have made additional purchases and expanded my automations beyond what I had in Iris. And as a bonus, I still have plenty of $$ remaining on my gift card courtesy of Lowes.
