I have been installing some Ultra Pro zwave in wall switches (59347-59370-59371-ZWA4011) and dimmers (59350-59372-59373-ZWA3016). When these are added, some of them do not have the same preferences as the others. Some have 5 or 6 preferences when they should have 12. I like to set the led color of the switch so at a glance you can tell if it is a fan or a light but this preference is not there. Does anyone know why this happens and if there is a way to fix it without messing everything up. I can air gap the switches and include them and hope for the best but would rather not. It may cause more trouble than it is worth. What happens when to the zwave mesh when you to this. Thanks for your help.
What driver are you using? What does the Device Details section of the Device Info tab on the device detail page look like? Either you are using different drivers or the driver you're using adapts based on the details, so this information would hlp figure that out.
Are these different devices? If so, do you have documentation verifying they the same option exist on all? That would be helpful if it's just a driver thing. Otherwise, is it possible the devices are just different and don't support the same features?
These are all the same switch.
This is the first switch. It has 6 preferences.
This is the second switch. It has 12 preferences.
As you can see, the details pages are pretty much identical but the preference page is not.
That is good to know but you'll still need this to see what might be going on:
I don't see any differences there, either. There's still this question:
This is the "Type" dropdown on the same tab.
Hitting Save on the Preferences tab (not this one) or maybe running the Configure command might also change something if they are both on the same driver and still showing different things.
The type dropdown box is the same for both.
Generic Z-wave DT Binary Switch.
I did notice this.
The one with the 6 preferences is 19 lines. The one with 12 preferences is so long I couldn't get it in one screenshot.
Pressing Configure apparently fixed the problem. I now have all preferences on the switch.
I will investigate this further. I was sure I already did that. It now looks like this.
We will see if the preferences change as expected.
The "DT" Z-Wave drivers read information from the device (notably, the configuration parameters that display preferences on this page), which a "Configure" forces. This happens on inclusion as well, so you don't normally need to do it manually, but it's possible your devices either didn't get the message or didn't respond for some reason.
Thank you for the info, I always wondered how this worked. Appreciate all you help.
