Sunrise and Sunset

I am using sunrise/sunset for control of my outside lights which has been working fine for years. They now come on at sunset but go off 2 hours before sunrise. I have rebooted hub but no change.
I looked in settings and sunrise/sunset are correct.

To help others troubleshoot your issues, it will likely be worth:

  • Mentioning the HE platform version you are running, e.g. 2.3.x.xxx
  • What app your are using to automate you sunrise/sunset activities, e.g. Basic Rules, Rule Machine, etc
  • Provide a screenshot of the setup of the automation
  • Turn on any logging options in the automation app being used and providing screenshots of the logs produced as a result

It may also be useful to know when this started happening and whether it coincided with a change in daylight savings.

Weird .. try setting a different zip code .. save and then open again and set to org.
( do a reset )

I second @sburke781’s suggestion to include more details with your request for help troubleshooting.

Without that, it’s substantially more difficult to help.

It started about 4 days ago.
Version 2.3.8.128
App Simple Automation
Logging turned on

Hmmm... Now we're meant to offer help.... Anyone.... Could be in the realm of what @WarlockWeary was suggesting with messing with the timezone configured on the HE hub.... Not ideal to be messing with that and/or the rule without understanding why saving either would be necessary.

Just a thought .. has worked for someone else

It's in no harm in trying it. I've done it on mine, and it didn't wreck anything..
I guess the worst case scenario could screw up the timings for 24 hours.

What do the logs show?

Also if you click on the gear icon in the upper right of your simple automation rule (not visible in the screenshot), that will take you to another page with additional info about what’s running under the hood of this rule.

Sharing a screenshot of that page (all of it) would also provide useful info for troubleshooting.

Go to the logs section and then select the location events tab at the top. That will tell you when the hub thinks sunrise and sunset are at least:

Hope this helps. Thank you

I wonder if there is a coincidence to the recent DST change...
I run an android emulator - and it went a bit sideways with the recent Daylight savings - had to override the clock on it - time and location are so annoying! (why I wrote Date Time parser  )

What about the bottom of that page? There should be a section for “scheduled jobs.”

There are no scheduled jobs. Should there be?

I would have thought so but just created a test rule and mine looks the same. The rule subscribes to sunrise and sunset events (as it should), and there are no scheduled jobs.

If you haven’t already, you could try clicking “done” on the rule’s main configuration page. That should get it to resubscribe to the sunrise and sunset events.

If you have clicked “done” at least once since this issue popped up, it’s such a simple rule that I’d suggest just removing it and creating a new one to see if the problem persists.

If I am not mistaken .. I do not think it does it right away ..
I think sometime around midnight it calculates and from then on it should do it everynight.

I did the above suggestions and it worked for 5 days and then the lights had shutoff at 4:49 as per Pushover. I did nothing and next day all worked fine. Go figure.
