Summary Tile Behaviors

@gopher.ny

Loving the new clickable feedback for the summary tiles on the home page. Thanks Victor!

Two observations:

  1. If all locks are locked, the tile is still clickable, but that puts you into a blank list. I would think the tile should either be not clickable in that condition, or display all the locks.
  2. The 'lights on' tile... This one is going to be tough. Some people are going to want this, others that, and even more want something totally different. It's easy enough to ignore, but perhaps this could be a config option somewhere? (Thinking checkboxes of device types to include, or even just a list of devices to include/exclude. Or, :smiley: ... A list of device types with devices under those types, to get the ultimate in granularity.)

ETA: Thinking about the lights tile some more, I think per-device granularity is the only viable solution. Reason: I just noticed that one of my bath exhaust fans is on there. It's 'correct' because it's on a switch, but there will be no way for anything or anyone other than me to know which 'switches' to include and which to ignore.

Thanks for your feedback. This is just the beginning. More tweaking is coming in the next release(s).

The 'lights on' is currently useless for me. It is showing blinds that are open, presence sensor with switch devices, two scene controllers where the lights are off but the scene controller still has an 'on' status, my Powerwall device, and a virtual switch that has nothing to do with lighting.

I like the idea of this function, but with the variety of devices available, I can't see how it will work without the ability to manually include or exclude devices.

For security, I have "1 unlocked" showing ,but clicking it takes me to an empty list:

I'm not sure what's going on with that, because all 3 of my door locks are showing as locked, and my "All Locks" mirror device is also showing as locked.

Be aware those summary tiles don't auto-refresh. I just replicated your lock issue by unlocking one door, refreshing the browser to show 1 unlocked, relocking the door, then selecting the summary tile. It then took me to a blank tile. Ignoring the lack of auto-refresh, I think it's working as designed.

Minor issue - looks like anything using the Generic Zwave Shade driver is being picked as a “light”, same with Generic Zigbee Outlet (which may or may not be right depending on what is plugged into them). Might need a way to modify how a device is classified similar to the way the HomeKit interface does it.

I've refreshed, closed and reloaded, hard-refreshed the tab, and loaded the page in incognito. It still shows one unlocked and links to the "no devices currently installed" page.

A long time ago I thought to myself 'what is the primary device type' for multisensor devices... and got beat up for that thought! It really is important how capabilities are prioritized - HD+ for example could benefit, as well as HE dashboards. Devices that are bridging to and from other sources (my recent Matter experiment comes to mind) really got messy. +1 on adding a parm for capabilities to either order them or at least ID a primary!

(Supporting issue that would get resolved) when you use a switch - is it lights or outlet? Devices going into Alexa from HE don't Identify well at all and this could easily be useful in future areas!

If you share an opinion about something in a discussion forum on the internet, some people may disagree with it. That doesn’t mean anyone was beating you up because you had an opinion.

That may happen regularly in other forums, but one of the things I really love about this one is the extreme rarity (never say never) of anyone attempting to “beat up” another person rather than politely disagree with them.

May still be working on this, but just noting that summary tiles are still messed up. I am showing 1 unlocked, but when I click on it, everything that appears is locked.
