I have an Aeotec micro dimmer that controls a 5-bulb chandelier. It’s been working perfectly for about 5 years but tonight it stopped responding. If I go to the Device page, I can issue switch and level commands for the device and while the values shown on the Device page are updated, nothing actually happens and the dimmer stays at the same level and the light doesn’t turn on or off.
I did a Z-wave repair and rebooted my hub, but that didn’t fix things. I looked at the log and it shows it’s responding even though it’s not. As a last ditch effort, I excluded and removed the device and then did a factory reset. I was then able to add it back as a new device but the dimmer is still unresponsive.
I’m guessing the device has failed but it seems strange that it’s reporting updated values when I change things via Alexa or the IDE. And the fact that I was able to reset it and add it as a new device suggests it’s still alive (I think).
I’m new to Hubitat so my troubleshooting abilities are still limited. Does anyone have any suggestions as to additional things I should try? Are there other diagnostics or logs that I should look at that might shed some light on the problem.
The dimmer is in a junction box in the ceiling and it’s tough to get to. As such, I’d prefer not to replace it with a new one unless it’s truly dead. TIA for any suggestions anyone has as to additional things I should look at and/or try.
