Strange issue with basic Scenes

I'll start by saying that I'm probably doing something wrong. I just migrated from Wink less than a week ago, and I'm still learning how this thing works. That said, I've come across 2 (to date) issues with Scenes that I'm hoping someone can help me with.

First issue: I have a Sengled bulb in the hallway by my front door. This works fine when controlled directly from the device menu or from a dashboard. It works fine when controlled via a Pico remote and Lutron integration. I have a Scene called "Exit" that turns off most of the devices in the house and is supposed to turn on the Sengled bulb and a garage switch. Everything works fine except for the Sengled bulb. It never turns on but shows as on in both a lights dashboard I've created and in the devices page for the bulb. My workaround has been to trigger the Pico remote to turn on the bulb. That works, and I can live with it, but I'd like to understand what I'm missing. The bulb shows as a dimmer, and "on" is defined as on at 100%.

Second issue: I have a couple of lamps in the bedroom connected to Leviton plug-in switches. These are grouped together. Both the individual switches and the group work fine from dashboards and the devices menu. I can even turn the group on or off with Amazon Echo integration. However, when included in a Scene called "Morning" that should turn the group on, nothing happens. The group is marked as a dimmer bulb with color control, etc., but I'm only using on and off states. If I include the individual switches in the scene instead of the group, everything works. That works as a fix, but again, what am I missing?

Anyway, thanks in advance from a beginner for any help. Overall, I'm loving the level of control vs. Wink, and I regret not making the move until Wink sort of forced my hand.

  1. Bulbs are dimmers as well as being switches. Off and 0% are not the same things. So I suspect the light is still "on" but just dimmed so low it isn't glowing.

  2. Probably the same or a similar issue. If you turn it "on" but the bulb was set to some low percentage (or zero) it will probably come back on to the last level. I don't use scenes that much, but you probably will have to change on to dim 99% (usually can't get 100) or something like that.

Not sure if this will help, but just including the following in case you hadn't seen it. Lots more on their Youtube channel too.
