I've just updated my C7 hub to 2.3.5.138 and had an issue I've had before but brushed it off as a coincidence, and I wanted to reach out to see if anybody else experienced the issue or could explain it.
So the strange issue, was when my hub rebooted to apply the update I lose internet not just the hub but everything. The Wifi and Lan are fine. It's happened before but not on every update. This time I had the update screen open so I could see it happened within seconds of the reboot.
It's something I can live with, it's just I'd like to understand how this could even happen, and also see if there is a solution.
The modem/router is a NETGEAR D7000-200UKS Nighthawk AC1900 if that makes a difference.
That is strange and I can't offer an explanation, but I have the same router and haven't had the same experience. I might update one of my C-7's now and see if it happens.
I've updated each of my hubs and haven't had any issues, not that I was expecting any.
Do you see the same issue when you simply restart the HE hub? Are you using the built-in modem? Are you using any sort of PoE or UPS in your setup? Just wondering if some kind of power fluctuation may somehow affect the modem... Still unlikely.
I've only had issues during some updates, never on a normal reboot.
Yes, I'm using the built-in modem. It's definitely strange, I could see how any device could affect the quality of the network, but dropping the internet is a head-scratcher.
Thanks, for checking.
There is a new update that might fix your issue.
Netgear or HE? We both updated to 2.3.5.138 HE platform version... And I can't see a new firmware available for my router.
I'm on the latest router firmware.
So if i understand this, you are using wifi to the hub? Have you tried a direct LAN connection and see if the same issue occurs?
This is a direct LAN connection. The issue is not with the hubs connection or the LAN of wifi everything continues to work internally, it's the router falls off the internet during some hub updates.
that is bizarre. updated the router FW? i'd swap the router, i love ASUS and Merlin FW. Solid as a rock.
The routers fw is up to date. I won't be changing the router as is the only decent router with the modem I need for my isp and all my other routers are Netgear. Not a big issue, I just wanted to know if it was fixable.
I'm not saying that this is your issue, but is your router or modem plugged into a smart outlet?
I once chased what I thought was a very weird gremlin - every time I would update my Lutron RadioRa2 setup, my C-7 would reboot. It was the strangest thing to me - even worked on it a little bit with support. Turned out it was the dumbest thing ever - I had the C-7 plugged into a Lutron appliance plug for easy Z-Wave radio resets. Thing is, when you transfer to your Lutron system, part of the process is that it power cycles all of the lights and plugs, so every time I would transfer, it would toggle the plug off and back on (I know, this is super obvious now, but for some reason, it was not obvious to me at the time).
Anyway, long story to ask if possibly one of your plugs power cycles when it reconnects to the Hub, thus resetting your modem or router.
Yes, it's plugged into a smart outlet. But the router doesn't reboot, it just loses on a specific function.
Ironically it's plugged into the outlet to reboot if it detects an internet outage.
