Specific question on the new C8

Does the C8 have the capability of removing "ghost" z-wave devices?

Today, you need to purchase a Z-Wave stick, install some 3rd party software, and jump through a few hoops... which works, but I sure would like to see this functionality implemented native.

It’s still limited to the same SiLabs SDK as the C-7. In both cases, most, but not all, ghosts can be removed without need for a secondary controller.

Thank you aaiyar! One can only hope :-). I have the USB stick, and recently removed three ghost devices (I'll be far more careful in the future to unpair first).

I’ve been following this piece of advice from @csteele.

When a device is at its desired location, first test if it is successfully excluded at that location before attempting inclusion. Exclusion cannot create a ghost device, so if it fails, it is of no consequence, and a new location can be tested (again, by exclusion first).

I always Exclude before an Include even on brand new devices and often get a message that a device was found and excluded. Knock on wood I have never had a ghost.

I do to.. Mainly to make sure it's ready for inclusion.. But it's a good practice to have..

Yesterday's I moved about 15 ZWave devices from a C7 to my new C8. I used the migration tool on my C5 because it had much more "stuff" on it.

About half the time, I had to force remove the device from C7. All of those devices obviously excluded first on C8. For the devices that removed quietly from C7, exclusion first with C8 found a device to exclude all but 1 time.
