Does anybody know if it is possible to make a Sonos device chime? I know they will do TTS but I would like a simple chime.
I do not think that the Sonos systems have internal sounds, but they can play WAV, MP3, etc music files that are hosted on a web server. You should be able to locate several free chime sound files on the internet and test them out, I recommend Sonos Advanced Controller app in HPM.

The Sonos app allows you to set alarms. I'm guessing that this does not interrupt a music stream. I would expect playing an MP3 file would be handled just like playing a music track. I want to be able to issue a chime without messing with anything currently playing (lowered volume or a short pause during the chime is OK).
Note that I do not have the Sonos app. I'm using one of the IKEA branded speakers with HomeKit. In my office I have two HomePod Minis and the Sonos speaker that play together in a group. The HomePods are in a stereo pair. I haven't tested it yet but I expect the Sonos would drop out of that group if I played a sound file.
So far I like the TTS features of the Sonos. It is as fast or faster than the Alexa integration. The HomePods lag about 8-10 seconds in my experience. I would like to drop the Alexa integration and the HomeKit TTS time is too long. I don't mind a HomeKit/Sonos integration.
