Sonos Beam / Playbar TV input

I had previously sent this request to support and while they thought it was a great idea, I never heard back and my ticket was closed.

Anyway, I have several Sonos Beams and a Playbar that I’m hoping to be able to switch to the “TV” input. Sometimes music is being played (or was being played leaving input wrong) and it would be nice to kick off a “Theater” automation. I’ve had a call or two when grandmothers were babysitting and kids played music disabling TV. Since I was remote I couldn’t use the Sonos app to re-enable, leaving them stuck.

Bonus points if we can enable/disable the “Speech enhancement” and “night mode” options.

What is reported from a Sonos Beam when TV input is selected:

  • status : playing
  • trackData : {"audioSource":"Aux Input","station":null,"name":null,"artist":null,"album":null,"trackNumber":null,"status":"playing","level":"12","mute":"unmuted","uri":"x-sonos-htastream:RINCON_:spdif","trackUri":"x-sonos-htastream:RINCON_:spdif","transportUri":"x-sonos-htastream:RINCON_:spdif","enqueuedUri":"x-sonos-htastream:RINCON_:spdif","metaData":null,"trackMetaData":"x-sonos-htastream:RINCON_:spdif18object.item0"}
  • trackDescription : Aux Input

In the Sonos App, under the TV settings section, is TV Autoplay. Doesn't this do what you want?

It mostly does. I have specifically had times when kids or someone else trigger music via Alexa or app and it never triggers TV again.

If everything else is controllable, having TV input, Speech Enhancement and others I would hope would be doable as well.

I’d love to see this also. There’s plenty of times that I switch between tv audio and music while leaving the screen on.

If you have Alexa running, telling Alexa to "switch to TV" is the Sonos command to get back to TV audio source. Which is probably easier than finding a button (physical or app).
