Sonoff ZBMINI-L

Saw these units on Amazon for very good price. Said they didn't need neutral. So thought I would try it out since this house doesn't have neutral in the switch boxes.

Wired one up on the desk, had to sacrifice an extension cord, plugged in a lamp that had a single LED bulb. The unit paired right up. Had to change the driver to Generic Zigbee switch and it works great with just that small load on it. I wired a switch to the switch inputs and that works great also.

Only problem I had. They have a cover over the terminals, which is a good idea. But almost impossible to get the cover off without breaking it. I finally managed, but was getting pretty frustrated.

I agree about the cover. Almost impossible to get that thing removed. I leave it off...for fear of having to remove it again. Is it important? Am I safe leaving those off?

Also, what I didn't realize when I ordered these, is how big they were, and how little space we have in the light switch boxes. None of the reviews or comments I read mentioned this issue, so I'm wondering if it is just me? Like you didn't mention this issue in your write-up. I got one to fit, with much pushing and squeezing, and it barley fits. But number 2, I see no way in the world to make it fit, without interfering with the light switch mounting properly. Just not enough space. What are the answers to this? Do you cut a hole in the back of the box. I can find no solution to this that makes sense. Again, nobody mentioned this issue in the reviews of the ZBMINI-L that I read....so I'm wondering if I am doing something wrong. Or misunderstanding something? Thanks.

I got mine in the switch box ok, but itโ€™s pretty tight. Both units I did there was only one switch and 2 wires. Just hot and switch leg. But It had to be turned just right to fit.
