I have 2 ST Arrival Sensors V2.
Both functioned fine when I still had them on ST.
The devices have been removed for a significant time from ST, the ST hub switched off, but where never paired to HE. The devices were converted to an external battery source shortly after I got them.
Currently the batteries are new.
For the life of me I cannot get them to pair to HE.
I have lost count of the number of times I have factory reset them, meaning hold the little button down on the inside until the LED goes out & release button.
I have also tried various distances from the HE hub, the closest being a few inches. It simply doesn't discover anything all.
Now for the interesting part...
I resurrected my ST hub, and (grrrrr), they paired first time, every time.
Removed devices from ST, reset devices
Tried to add to HE - not a blip on the radar
Tried ST again, both pair just fine.
Remove, Reset from ST
Tried HE, nothing!
And so the cycle continues...
I kinda thought it has to be a channel thing... BUT, I was also under the impression that the factory reset should remove any "residual" channel memory from the device.
Currently HE is using channel 25
ST, when it is switched on, is using channel 14
I have two of them, one in each car. They pair very easily, for me. My Zigbee is chan 15.
Both of mine are mod'd to use the external battery. The one for my car has been showing "not present" for a couple days. I just now went and got it and decided to re-pair. Worked first attempt.
Being pendantic, I know but...
I put Hubitat in Zigbee Discovery mode and I pressed and held the little button til the light went out. Nothing happened on Hubitat. I quick clicked the little button, it got the expected "Found Previously Joined Device "
Agreed, this is the way it should work on HE, except not for me!! :-).
(So I know the devices are functional because they continue to join to ST just fine)
As an aside, I also left them on overnight yesterday (Removed from ST, ST hub off, Device properly reset) - still nothing on HE when I tried to pair this morning.
Change your Hubitat Hub to use Zigbee channel 20. I had numerous SmartThings devices refuse to pair at higher channel numbers. 20 has worked amazingly well for me.
I believe the hub somehow sends out a message to the devices that the channel is changing, which should take care of most devices. For those it does not, either unplug them for a few seconds, or pull their battery. Afterwards, they should reconnect without too much trouble. You do not have to remove/re-pair them.
