I have two Linear wd500z-1 dimmers. They are old and finicky, but they work fine once paired.
I'm moving from a C4 to C7 which requires me to Reset the dimmers then include them to the C7
The instructions say:
This could mean you have to set the controller to exclusion .... etc
OR it could mean there is a Z-Wave Reset command that could be sent to the device.
Is there a Z-Wave Reset command? If so does anyone have a few lines to show me how its done?
I have tried the sequence of tap top 5 times then hold the bottom or 15 seconds -- no go. After trying it >10 times and in between praying to the Z-Wave gods. still -- no go.
Sorry, just throwing out suggestions from the other side of the world.
It’s a device we don’t get to play with but I guess you’ve also tried pulling the Air Gap switch, which would completely power down the dimmer and then inserting it and trying again ?
Ignoring the instructions (or perhaps not understanding them) I found a repeatable method to transfer a WD500Z-1 from my C4 to my C7.
Using a Z-Stick S2 I deleted the dimmer. Put the S2 in the exclusion mode, tapped the top (then bottom) once and the S2 showed the device was excluded.
Simply included it into the C7. I tapped the top then 10 seconds later the bottom. Because the delay in announcing an inclusion I'm not sure which tap did the trick. But I don't care.
I performed the same steps on a 2nd dimmer and everything went smoothly.
I had similar issues with old wd500z-1 dimmers: Even though I had excluded them from my Vera controller before trying, I could not include them on Hubitat. I ended up using a Aeontec Minimote to exclude the dimmer (press/hold the "-" button to put remote into exclusion mode, then double tap the down button on wd500z). After doing this I was able to add the switch to Hubitat by entering inclusion mode and pressing the up button once.
