Not seeing much chatter here in the community around the Alexa skill app and being able to voice command some of my devices. Lots of one star reviews, and issues on the Amazon Hubitat skill. Is the skill truly dead and if so, any other way to control hubitat other than using HomeKit?
Can you clarify what you’re asking for help with? AFAICT, the Amazon Alexa skill works fine.
Yeah, when I download the skill and try to link my account, it says that it's unauthorized. Tons of other people are having the same issue.
I just linked mine about 3 weeks ago and it is fine. Is your hub connected to Hubitat’s cloud?
No issues with device control via Alexa here either.
Well, that's great news that it's still working. Yes, I can connect using the cloud. Do I need to provide Amazon any special permissions to access my hub before I try to authenticate?
Working fine for me as well.
No - but your hub has to be connected to Hubitat’s cloud. Have you confirmed that it is?
Looks like I probably need to pay for remote admin in order to get this to work, right? Or can I connect to the cloud for free?
You don’t need remote admin for this. Confirm that your Hubitat hub is connected to Hubitat’s cloud.
Oh, boy. I feel silly. The screenshot I took above where it asks you to log into your account, I was logging in using the Google account button, but my hub is registered to a different account. Once I logged in with my habitat account, it worked just fine. Thanks for helping me think through this!
It's okay, we've all been there
