My Alexa integration for device control is completely busted today.
Kind of hard to know what happened without some details to trouble-shoot. I am moving your problem to a new thread that can focus on a solution for the issue you've encountered.
Is your hub connected to Hubitat's cloud? That is essential for the Alexa integration to work.
How can I verify hubitats cloud connection is functioning? Is the dashboard loading over cellular sufficient?
…. The dashboard isn’t working (via cellular) either. So that must be the issue…. What might be the cause of that ?
From the hub’s web browser interface, you should generally see a little red notification bubble that, when clicked on, will say the hub isn’t connected to the cloud.
But if you can usually reach your dashboard via cell connection and currently can’t, that could be the explanation.
Which version of the hub firmware are you using? If it’s anything other than the most recent one (2.3.9.184), updating could help with cloud disconnect issues (other users have had similar issues and a fix was found for most).
The puzzle deepens; The .180 upgrade was… a week or week & a half ago. Maybe two.
Currently running version: 2.3.9.180
No updates available.
Hub network diagnostics say I can get to the outside world.
How did you test this? Using an IP address or a fully qualified domain name?
I am asking this because if you used an IP address, the possibility remains that your hub has lost access to a functional domain nameserver.
OTOH, if you used an FQDN, then we can eliminate DNS access as a source for this issue.
Reboot your hub, then update to 2.3.9.184
Multiple versions prior to that would disconnect from the cloud, not notify you, and not reconnect. And then you cannot see updates either until you reboot and it reconnects.
This. Sorry I didn’t clarify that rebooting first is necessary if the hub is in fact not able to reach the Hubitat cloud server (which seems likely at this point).
I clicked the Reset DNS button in the network settings, and that got DNS straightened out. Then got the update installed and then the Alexa skill re-enabled and authenticated. All is hunky dory!
