We are proud new owners of a solar system: EG4 GridBoss, EG4 FlexBoss21, and MNP Batteries. We officially turned it on today and noticed that it wasn’t working as expected. During the day, we powered our home solely from the panels, but noticed it barely charged the batteries. Instead, it sold most of it back to the grid. It’s nighttime now with the batteries at 70%, but it’s not using the batteries at all.
We have a managed system and I’m fairly sure they just haven’t set up the Maintenance settings. We plan on calling them on Monday, but I’d still love to learn as much as I can about the system. But, it’s as Greek to me as Hubitat was on day one I tried to look at the manual, but it’s just a lot of definitions with no examples. And quite frankly I’m scared to click anything right now lol
You all have helped me so much with our home automation and I’m hoping to find a similar community for our solar system. Any suggestions? If there’s a YouTube channel you’d recommend, I’m open to those, too!
I can't say I've watched a lot of Matt Ferrell's solar videos, but I've always found the videos I have watched to be good. I mostly watched some of his early home automation videos.
Thank you! I’ll share his channel with my husband. He’s going to be feel so vindicated about our solar choice haha. “How AI is Destroying Your Electric Bill.” This is exactly why he wanted go solar. We will probably add more panels & batteries to go completely off grid in the future.
