I have 90 plus devices they all show up in basic rules if you select correct device type but in dashboard only about 15 show up. Went to admin ui app and dashboard and links no where can I find a way to enable all devices to show up in dashboard. Im trying to add to a existing one and I know If I create one form scratch I have the option to select all devices, but once created cant seem to access all my rest of devices like in past. Any thoughts. Its one of these things where hubitat is over powerful and not intuitive. Im having a hard time understanding why all devices wouldnt just be listed from get go to access. Once added they should all pop up and let the user pick and choose what he wants to add without adding someor many, mostly all. From my understanding there is a whole new user interface comming out soonto make this more simple. I cant wait! Anyways if anyone has some pointers or tip, thank you
Go to Apps -> Dashboard. Then pick the Dashboard to which you want to add devices and add them. Then you can go to the Dashboard itself and add the newly "authorized" devices to that Dashboard.
It would slow the hub down to a crawl. When I device is "authorized" to be on a dashboard, all attribute updates for that device are sent to that instance of the Dashboard app. Now imagine doing this for 100+ devices, many of which have multiple attributes.
This!!! @robandchristy1 Please don't expose them all to a single dashboard. Only expose what you actually need for a specific dash.
To be fair, and I'm not saying this is the case for @robandchristy1 , but not all users are likely to appreciate the impact this may have, so it is good to have topics like this to remind people that there can be a significant impact in selecting devices for a dashboard.
but this is just to add them to dashboard so when they report I can see changes> my 1st dashboard is just to monitor battery devices but I cant add all of them if fact only 15 devices show up to add. Why cant I add any device I want to dashboard. Here are 3 screen shots of devices in device list vs what I can choose to add to a tile.
I just want my dash board to show battery levels from all devices... for now its only dashboard I but not all devices showing up to add. Im on most current firmware. Went into the link tab and selected all, can go into basic rules and all devices show up to select. Watched the videos not sure what im doing wrong. Im ok with someone accessing my computer remotely to help or I have the remote thingy that I bought and cant figure out how to use from hubitat.
Have you added them to that particular instance of the Dashboard app? Until you do that, they will not show up in the list of devices for that Dashboard.
please explain, or send a current link

dully noted but all im trying to create is a dashboard to let me know which batteries I need to change. But not all devices listed to add to dash board. Im not trying to add 100 devices just battery powered ones to this dash board. I think I kinda found root cause but dont think hubitat docs are correct. So I created a new dashboard to try. This is what I found. The docs are not complete and hard to follow and dont work.
This is where it makes no sense no where can I find authorize all devices in my original dashboard and no where did it give me a option with test dashboard.
Check the devices that aren't being authorized that they're actually outputting the battery attribute.
I feel like you may need to elaborate a little more on what you are wanting to configure for your dashboard. I'll admit I haven't configured a new dashboard in the way you have shown, so it would be interesting to hear your plans in more detail.
Its not checking if they out put but rather adding them to dashboard. @developer Im simply trying to add all battery devices to a dashboard to monitor battery state and know when to change them. I watched you tube videos how to authorize devices and as you see I went into hubitats tutorial but the way it says does not pop up for me. Im thinking its the authorization that is needed but cant find it anywhere in dashboard or dashboard link. I only have 15 out of 100 devices showing up and this is my first and only dashboard. I did a test one as screen shots show but even there now no devices show up nor did I have a option to authorize devices. I remember back in day I found it and yes I could select all. Not sure where to find this setting, should be built right into dashboard settings. I clicked on dashboard settings nothing there, clicked on dashboard link nothing there, clicked on the dashboard itself and settings is mostly about arraigning icons. Confused why this is so difficult, or maybe easy but im not talented enough. Im willing to give a ambassadors access to hubitat if need be. I already have the remote thing installed which im still searching on how to use it properly. To round this up ss of my dashboard was uploaded I want to add 5 more devices but they are not listed in selection, Furth more only 15 are listed to choose from out of 100 in battery dashboard and 0 in test. I should be able to add any device that is registered as a tile or am I wrong? For now I just want to add the 5 remaining batter devices to my battery dashboard to monitor level. Its simply just adding tiles with devices to dashboard nothing strange about the way I want to do it. It how do I get all my devices to show up so I can pick and choose what I want to add.
Steps
1: Open web browser and Go to yourhubip.
2: On the left hand side, click on Apps
3: Scroll down to Hubitat Dashboard
4: Click on the dashboard your want to add devices to. In my case I'll click on kiosk
5: Click on Choose devices
6: Scroll with mouse wheel and click device(s) you want to add to that particular dashboard
7: Click Update
8: Click Done
9: Click Dashboards on the left hand side and pick the dashboard you want (In my case kisosk)
10: Click + symbol in upper right hand corner . Left column device you want (the new devices) Right hand column Battery.
11: Click Add Tile
Result (I added the Tuya 4-in-1 battery to this dash)
The key phrase is here:
The inverse of this statement is also true. If you don't select the devices in this menu, they aren't available in a particular dashboard. Follow rlithgow's steps above to get to this menu.
Also, the first few steps in the Documentation cover adding devices. They are creating a new dashboard in the documentation, but the steps are similar once you are in the Dashboard app. Hubitat® Dashboard | Hubitat Documentation
There is a american show called american pawn stars. They use experts to evaluate a objects prices and they often call one experct person and they call him the book of knowledge. This is you, I found the issue which should be fixed! The only way I get access to add more devices is by clicking the install dashboard button from there I can add/remove etc. Now allmy devices show up but it should be built in app. Who would think off having to do that? This is exactly what you guys talked about but the ui is counter intuitive. Look at screen shots prior and now. I have no option to do this in dashboard while if I go to install you can see I have 25 option to letter d where as before I had 15 a-z. Compare them and suggest a fix. Only found this with your help that I MY CASE only way to access this is to click on install button, nothing in dashboard anywhere as was suggested. But thanks for insite.
Edit after clicking install, my dashboards showed up, clicked on battery and everything shows after hitting toggle on/of
Note by ritgows process I didnt see dashboard installed so I tried to install it and boom there it was the holy grail
I did my instructions with the assumption that the dashboard app was already installed.
No the dashboard app is installed and has been! but I never saw that option until I click install again and again it wont reinstall but brings me to screen where I can add other devices. If you go back and look at all the screenshots app is installed but option to add is not. ONLY if I go to install app does it bring me to page where it shows my dashboards and ONLY then can I add more devices. Which is where everyone one trying to guide me to within the program. I will post later if this way worked
From your last post with screenshots, if you look to the left of the list of apps to install, the Hubitat Dashboard App is display just next to the Life 360 Connector app in the install list.
There is a link to the parent dashboard app, but also the individual dashboards, which it where you configure the devices, as others have explained
I can appreciate it would be nice to be able to work with this part of the admin inside the dashboard, but I believe part of the rationale is from a security perspective, providing separation of the device access controls from the visual display on screen. Don't forget that while adding devices like lights and sensors may feel relatively innocuous, you also get access to the device event history. So if all devices were available for selection, someone could look at the history of someone's presence, for example. Hubitat want to allow finer grained control for who can provide access to what devices, verses who can then work with those on screen.
Confused the dashboard shows up and is installed but to add devices after inital install only way I could do this is by reinstalling the app which hubitat does not, but takes me to page where I can see all installed device add or remove as I wish but cannot do it from dashboard directly. Its a work around I guess since I added all my missing battery devices this way.
you don't need to reinstall, simply go to apps, hubitat dashboard and pick the dashboard.
Have you tried clicking on the link I pointed out in my last post?
