Smartwings good?

Are smartwings z-wave good for HE? I'm reading some post with people having some problems. I just want to pair them to HE, create some RM, and later purchase a fire tablet and create a dashboard to control them. Getting old I just want them to work with little to no effort.

I like 'em. I have nine Zigbee shades, all controlled by Hubitat. I had one drop off the network once since December 2022. No biggie. I get about 5-6 months from a charge and they open every morning and close every evening (but only if the windows are closed).

I have 8 of them and love 'em--they're quiet, responsive, and rechargeable via USB C.

Get the enhanced remote, though.

Another thumbs up! Sometimes they do not always open or close, but overall happy with them.

I have 10 of the zwave shades. Despite a robust zwave network, I had random delays and blinds not responding a few times a month. I tried staggering commands, adding refresh commands but nothing helped. I noticed they always work with the smartwing remote so I gave in and bought a bond hub. Game changer for my use case, which is mainly pico remotes for open and close.

Now when clicking the open or close button on a pico, the bond hub issues the commands instead of zwave. Performance has been very stable even when issuing a command to 5 blinds. The bond hub issues the commands one at a time so the blinds close slightly staggered which is fine by me.

I like having the Zwave too. It is great for tracking position on dashboards and HomeKit. I can issue commands on those as well, but I rarely do.

Yeah, I had that problem when I tried to control them all at the same time. My automation now loops over each of my nine shades with a 500ms delay and they hardly ever miss now. I wonder if the hub's auto-retry might help this now...

@Equis, what APP are you using for manage the shades? I set all mine up in Room Lighting but do not see a way to stagger the trigger. I had them in all one "group" but recently split them all out to individual instances in Room Lighting by room and added a delay, but still does not run flawlessly. Was thinking of reworking into Rule Machine and then setup a rule with a delay between each.

Sure. I used webCoRE, but I'm sure you could set something up in Rule Machine. Sunset+30 is the trigger. It loops over the shades in the device list, and closes them on the condition the window sensor is closed, then waits 500ms and does the next one. They open in the morning no matter what with a 500ms wait in between. Here's the piston so you can follow the logic. The caveat here is that the window sensors and open positions (I don't have them open all the way) have to be listed in the same order as the shade devices.

Thanks! That is next level for me....but worth taking a look at.
