So I’m using this on my garage setup as a tilt sensor. I’m finding that these sensors won’t register open until most the garage door is open. I tend to open my garage a foot sometimes, and the sensor doesn’t pickup that it’s open.
Anyway to fix the sensitivity on these ?
You'd have to explore some of the details about the 3-axis reporting or the acceleration. 3-axis might work if the sensor is mounted high on the door, as it will start to tilt rather quickly. You can use Custom Attribute in Rule Machine as a trigger or a condition for Conditional Action. So, instead of using open from the contact, you know when it's moved a certain amount. The same might be possible with acceleration, as that goes active once the door starts moving, and you can time things.
It's not a sensitivity issue, it's a definitional issue. What device settings represent open. The way they are setup it won't report open before it's actually fully open.
Why not add or use a contact sensor?
I’m thinking of just using this like a contact sensor.
Why double up?
No reason to double up.
Use it as a contact sensor and not a tilt sensor and then the "tilt" functionality doesn't come into play unless you were using that for something else?
