This exactly why I use pi hole specifically for this
The one that scared me the most was noticing that my TCL/Roku TV is apparently able to determine what show you are watching, even through one of its HDMI ports from another source ie bluray or appletv etc. I guess it can analyze the video signal and match it to a database of shows, a bit like Shazam does for music. They bill it as being helpful, "let us provide relevant tips for other shows you might like based on what you are watching". Um, no thanks. Downright spooky.
I always think these articles are funny. As a Director of cyber security I see it a million (exaggeration) times a day.
I'll decide which of my data is sensitive or not, thank you. I always find it very presumptuous when they call it that.
You can call it personally identifiable (maybe), unauthorized (maybe), but sensitive is a relative quality judgement that they can't make on MY data.
Simply put, all these cloud company's valuations are based on the big data they are gathering from every customer. ST, Sonos, Roku, I'm looking at you. Theres a reason that 60" TV is only a few hundred $.
