I would like to recommend you use Smart Start for any Zwave device with security that offers Smart Start. I was trying to include and set up a Kwikset 620 lock and was not getting it done. I included, excluded and factory reset for about an hour to no avail. I got close a couple of times, even got to input the pin that came with the lock. A couple times it added the wrong device, entry something device. I tried to change to Generic Zwave lock, saved and configured but it just wouldn't work. I searched this forum and read about Smart Start. So I thought I would give it a try. I factory reset the lock for the 37th time, started the Smart Start process, scanned the QR code that came with the lock and sat back and said "this ain't gonna work". Boy was I wrong, After about 20 minutes I checked the device page and there it was "Generic Zwaze lock". It actually worked. It would lock and unlock and I set the pin code. I would recommend Smart Start and saving yourself a lot of time.

Yeah - I included all 5 of my Kwikset 620 locks using SmartStart. My experience is the same as yours.

Agreed, it is how I pair all Zwave devices now.
Still a bit of lingering trauma from my Kwikset 620 debacle almost 3 years ago. There have been a couple of similar posts from other community members since then.
