The problem is if 2 contact sensors are open and 1 of them closes it turns off the indicator light.
So the light will be off with one sensor still open.
The Lighting app on smartthings made it so all had to be closed for the light to be turned off and that is the desired behavior.
You need to do this with a rule in RM vs Simple Lighting. You can have a rule that occurs only when all 3 sensors are closed. Simple lighting is using Any device for a trigger on both sides. There's a reason it's called "simple".
I disagree. it should only turn off the lights when all the triggers are in the off state. otherwise its on and off logic are inconsistent . and not useful for more then one sensor. Again this is their answer to smartthings lighting app and if they want people to transfer over without disappointment then they should fix this as its a bug.
I'm just telling you how to get the functionality you want today without having to get anything fixed. But if you want to wait for Hubitat to change this, then go ahead and wait.
You are correct that the design of this app is very similar to ST's lighting app. And, @Ryan780 is correct that Simple Lighting uses "any" logic when multiple contact sensors are used. Feature or bug is a pointless argument. There are valid arguments that can be made on both sides of that debate. Perhaps it could offer a choice for the off logic, as to whether to turn off when any contact closes, or all of them close. Those sorts of choices have been avoided to keep the app simple.
Is there some reason that you can't use Rule Machine for this automation? It allows the selection of "any" or "all" sensors for this sort of automation. Here is what it would look like:
I have already switch over to the rule machine for this. Problem is there is no useful documentation that I can find that would have warned me of this. And I have seen many comments telling people to look at the smartThings documentation to use as hubitat's. But if there is no intention to keep Hubitat consistent with smartThings then that documentation is less then useful. I don't want to have to go to the rules machine or writing my own app for every little bit of automation.
We certainly are not the source of comments suggesting ST documentation. Our documentation is weak, no doubt, We are continually improving it, but there is a long way to go.
We are also very open to user contributions to the documentation, which is one reason it's in the form of a wiki.
I'm sorry you're so disappointed with Simple Lighting.
