Fairly new HE user but learning quickly. I have a double barrel question.
I've set up some simple lounge light schedules for both week days and at weekends. (Both schedules star at the same time but the lights go off later in the eveing at weekends). The rule turns on three seperate light modules. I have also set a separate rule for when we are away from the home. This rule includes just one of the lights within the lounge together with an outside light. (Different times to the aforementioned schedules.) Am I doing the following correctly. When we are away from the home, I pause the week day and weekend rules and the "away" rule becomes active. We are away at the moment and when looking at my lounge lights, they are still coming on as per the normal week day schedule. What am I doing wrong?
Pausing a rule should stop it from doing anything; if not, I'd check two things:
Enable logging for that SAR instance and see if Logs show anything (current logs or past logs, depending on when you opened the window; current logs will only show new entries since the page was loaded, and you can filter by app name)
Verify that it was really this SAR instance that turned on the lights, which the above can help with but so can the "Events" page for the devices, accessible from their individual device detail pages. Not only does this page show events (not super-interesting--what happened but not why) but also, as of recent firmware versions, commands and what app sent them--which is likely to be the most helpful thing here. Look for commands that would turn on the device, entries like "command-on" or "command-SetLevel," and see where they came from.
It should also be noted that you don't need to manually pause and resume these rules for days of the week. In the Restrictions section, you can set restrictions for weekdays versus weekends, among other possibilities. You can do the same with mode, which will work for presence if your presence is tied to your hub mode (mine personally isn't, but I'm probably the only one...). That should save you from needing to navigate into the hub admin UI just do change these things all the time.
Many thanks for your response and suggested investigating route to my issue. I will explore more and hopefully get to the bottom of the problem. Just to say that in my rule, I did stipulate Mon - Fri & Sat/Sun but in two separate rules. Thanks again for the direction in the way I will now schedule in the future.
